Simplicity is it achievable or just a dream?

Living a simple and beautiful life is it really possible? Yes it is. I know most of you wont agree with me but it sure is a fact. It might sound as a dream to many but you can make it realty. You don’t need to earn a cute salo of about 100k for you to live a cute life. All you need to do is live within your means. As one Robert Louis Stevenson put it “the best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life’s plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life”. One golden rule you need to keep in mind is never live to please people but live in a way you can afford. What is the point of using more than 50% of your salary on house rent and you haven’t even budgeted for your bus fare food and other basic necessecities huh? Just because you want to impress so and so and you want people to know you live in one of the leafy suburbs of town and you shop in those classy fashion shops/stalls?

Lets try and face realty here if you are earning a salary of less than 20k there is no point in living in some estates which are pretty expensive just to gain some status in society. Why pay about 13k for a house that you can get for as little as 4500 in another not so expensive estate huh? When budgeting always remember never to spend more than 10% of your net income on rent and always try to put aside at least 10 to 20% of your earnings in a safe box (read bank account) for emergency. Remember when you get broke and cant afford to live the expensive life all those people you were trying to impress wont be there to get you out of the hole you’re in. let people love and appreciate you for who you are not who you pretend to be. Instead of living a luxurious life now and suffer in the future why not focus on investing in something worthwhile like building your own house or owning a business on the side from your normal job? While you take your money to the local pub and claim to have fun I save mine and invest and in future while you’re busy struggling in life I’ll be living a cute stress free life.

Did you know that with less than $10 or lets just say with something close to $5 which is about 400bob you could be well dressed from head to tore at our own Vintage Paris that is located somewhere in Eastlands? If you head to Vintage Paris (Gikomba) with a $5 bill you’re bound to get out there looking superb! But that’s only if you know how to make your mitumba selection and you know where to get them at the right prices. This is a one stop shop for quality stuff at good reasonable prices. So next time you want to do some shopping be it for clothes or groceries make a trip to Vintage Paris and you wont be disappointed.

Learn to live a simple life. Don’t get stressed or envy your friends coz they have a luxurious life that you don’t have. Did you know that a simple life with not so many life luxuries is more healthy? While this guy has the latest car brand in town and operates from house to car, car to office and you have to walk and hustle to get a bus to work. Don’t worry always remember there is an advantage in every disadvantage. You’re keeping healthy by walking everyday to your bus stand and that way you don’t need to spend money going to a gym coz you’re already physically fit. Just because you don’t a fridge in your house shouldn’t get to your head; this makes you eat fresh food daily. So being a lil poor sometimes is good. But remember being poor today doesn’t mean you’ll never have a brighter future; you can rise from a simple house girl to a CEO of a blue-chip company. All you need to do is apply the triple P; Patience, Persistence and Prayer.

As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler; solitude will not be solitude, poverty will not be poverty, nor weakness weakness. ~Henry David Thoreau
